Location: Pinan Lakes, Ecuador
Year: October, 2016
Description: I had read about this place in a guide book, according to the author the summit of Yanaurcu boasted one of the best vistas in all of Ecuador. To get there was not a easy endeavor.
I boarded a busy bus heading off into rural Ecuador. Kids in their uniforms looked strangely at the curly haired gringo standing cause there were no seats. The bus was empty by my stop, and I started walking back towards the dirt road my GPS said to head up. I crossed mud huts with strangers who waved, workers pounding rocks into the ground, and more wild cattle then I knew what to do with. After two days of hiking I had a camp set below Yanaurcu. I woke up at 2 am and followed my GPS in the dark hoping the route I scouted would go. This was one of the most magical vistas I have ever stood upon.
